A Big Flats man is facing several charges after police say he forcibly touched a 14-year-old girl in an inappropriate manner and also threatened her with a weapon in a separate incident.
Michael J. Smith, 46, of Rodaha Drive, Big Flats, is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, as well as two counts of forcible touching and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office said that along with the forcible touching, they also investigated a separate incident in which Smith threatened the girl with a metal baton.
Smith was arraigned in Town of Corning Court and sent to Steuben County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
He is due to appear in both Town of Erwin and Town of Campbell courts on the charges.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office was assisted by New York State Police in the investigation.
