A seven-year-old boy was airlifted to a Rochester hospital after he was struck by a car Monday on State Route 223 in the Town of Erin, the Chemung Sheriff’s Office said.
The boy, whom officials did not identify, was struck at approximately 6:30 p.m. by a vehicle driven by Douglas J. Green, of Pine City, deputies said.
The initial investigation indicates Green was driving his 1999 Oldsmobile westbound on State Route 223 when the boy entered the road from the north shoulder, deputies said.
The boy was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital; his condition is unknown, deputies said. The investigation is continuing.
