  • Steuben County has added 700 jobs in the past year, according to the latest figures released Thursday by the state Department of Labor.
The county’s labor force stood at 37,500 for March, the latest figures available.
That’s an increase of 700 jobs since March 2013, or 1.9 percent. That includes 600 private sector jobs and 100 government jobs. Farming jobs aren’t included in the report.
The county also showed month-over-month job growth, adding 200 jobs from February to March, according to the report.
The Department of Labor also reported Thursday that the state has added 108,000 private sector jobs in the past year, bringing the private sector job count to 7,539,300. The state job count held steady from February to March.
County-by-county and statewide unemployment rates will be released Tuesday in a separate report.
