Fire investigators are searching for the cause of a fire early this morning that destroyed the Arrow Mart in Avoca.
The fire was reported around 4 a.m. by a passerby who called 911, said Steuben County Fire Investigator Joe Gerych.
The convenience store and gas station is located at 99 S. Main St. near the intersection with State Route 415.
The convenience store was fully involved when firefighters arrived and is a “total loss,” Gerych said. The store was closed at the time.
Crews from multiple Steuben County fire departments responded. There were no injuries reported.
The fuel tanks on the property did not explode, Gerych said.
As of early this afternoon, it was too early to give a suspected cause of the blaze, Gerych said.
“We’re still digging through it,” he said.
Bath-based New York State Police are also involved in the investigation.
