  • A special state of emergency has been issued for parts of Yates County, including the Village of Penn Yan and the Town of Jerusalem, according to a press release from Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike. Last night's heavy rain flooded and washed out roadways, flooded homes and businesses. Schools are closed and temporary shelters are open. Spike cautioned about dangers created by debris, downed power lines and moving water.
Spike also issued a boating advisory for Keuka Lake. He cited large amounts of debris in the lake and outlet.
