BATH | More than 60 properties will be up for bid at the Steuben County real property auction, the county announced Wednesday.
The auction will be held at 10 a.m. July 11 in the auditorium at Campbell-Savona High School, 8455 County Route 125, Campbell.
The county forecloses on property after taxes are unpaid for two years or if the owner has defaulted on an installment plan. Approximately half of this year’s foreclosures are vacant lots, according to a press release.
There is only one listing in the City of Corning. The City of Hornell has the greatest number with eight; the Town of Corning has seven properties listed.
Monday, the county Finance Committee approved a proposal by Finance Commissioner Patrick Donnelly to combine some neighboring lots previously listed separately.
Steuben County officials said property owners have several chances to avoid foreclosure, including the option of setting up monthly payments, with a 1 percent monthly interest charge.
Pirrung Auctioneers Inc. and Thomas Wamp, licensed real estate agent, will run the auction.
