  • Concert, fireworks set for Saturday in Elmira's Eldridge Park

  • The annual Community Picnic and Concert will be held Saturday in Elmira’s Eldridge Park, capped off by a fireworks display.
    The event will include concerts by Joe Cavallaro’s Dixieland Band (3 p.m.), Anita Lewis and Top Shelf (5:30 p.m.) and Greg McQuade (7:30 p.m.).
    Folks are welcome to bring a picnic or buy food from the Hill Top Inn, White Eagles Club and other vendors. Bobby K will provide free inflatables for kids to play on, and the park’s Merry-Go-Round, miniature golf courses, boat rides and arcade will be open.
    The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.
    Admission is free, and there will be a free shuttle bus from the Elmira Wegmans.
    • Corning’s annual Independence Day celebration on July 4 will include concerts by Blue Eyed Soul at 7 p.m. and the Corning Community Concert Band at 8:30 p.m. in Memorial Stadium, followed by a fireworks show over the Chemung River at 9:45 p.m.
    The event is sponsored by the Corning Kiwanis Club, Corning Lions Club and Corning Rotary Club.
    • The annual Fourth of July fireworks show at Watkins Glen’s Clute Park will begin at 9:30 p.m. July 4.
    The show is presented by Young Explosives of Rochester, and sponsored by the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce and Chemung Canal Trust Co. Admission is free, but parking is $5 at Clute Park.
