  • TROUPSBURG | The Jasper-Troupsburg School Board unanimously accepted the resignation of Superintendent Chad Groff at Wednesday night's special board meeting in the Elementary gymnasium.
Groff's resignation comes in place of a board vote on whether or not to renew his contract, and according to Board President Cameron "Mitch" Bullock, it was a mutual decision. Bullock also stated that the resignation was received earlier in the day Wednesday.
"Mr. Groff and the Jasper-Troupsburg district (agree) that we have a difference in vision and future direction of the district," said Bullock.
Groff was not present at the meeting, but did send a statement to the Tribune after the meeting.
"It has been a pleasure to work in such a great school district," said Groff. "There are many special accomplishments of which our students, staff, parents and community can be proud. Thank you to those who have supported me during my time as superintendent in the district. Your support means a great deal to me."
As for the future, J-T will name an interim superintendent at its next regular board meeting, July 9, according to Bullock.
Bullock also expressed a hope that this decision would not effect the happy occasion of graduation on Friday.
"Our hope is that the graduation celebration can go off without a hitch," said Bullock. "We hope people can put these issues behind them and just focus on that."
