  • Terry Fairbrother, superintendent of the Village of Wayland’s Public Works Department, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree falsifying a business document, a class E felony.
Fairbrother, 50, of Wayland, allegedly submitted a falsified time sheet to the Village of Wayland, according to the Steuben County Sheriff's Office, which made the arrest.
Steuben County Sheriff's Office investigators were notified in February of the alleged incident by the village's police department and members of its board of trustees. Fairbrother's alleged crime also occurred in February.
Fairbrother cooperated with investigators, authorities said. He was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Wayland Village Court on Aug. 6.
