  • ELMIRA | A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred late Thursday night, according to the Elmira Police Department.
According to a news release from Public Information Officer William Solt, Elmira police were dispatched to a residence in Hathorn Court - an apartment complex between Davis Street and College Avenue - around 11 p.m. Thursday for a reported stabbing.
The first police officer to arrive at the scene found a person who’d been stabbed, according to Holt. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police were able to obtain information at the scene and identify the suspect, police say. The suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was taken into custody after returning to the scene, police say.
The alleged stabbing was not a random act. The suspect and the victim knew each other, police say.
It was unclear Friday what charges the boy may face.
The Elmira Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to call EPD at 737-5610 or the anonymous tip line, 271-HALT.
