  • A Red Robin under construction in the Southern Tier Crossing retail area on County Route 64 in Horseheads will open in late September, a company spokeswoman told The Leader on Friday.
The opening date has not been set yet.
The new Horseheads location will be a 4,400-square-foot restaurant near Cracker Barrel and Texas Roadhouse.
The restaurant will hire 80 workers.
Red Robin is a Colorado-based chain that offers 24 styles of gourmet burgers served with bottomless steak fries.
Toppings for the burgers include fried eggs, grilled pineapples, guacamole, country Dijon sauce and crispy onion straws. Five kinds of buns and seven kinds of cheese are available.
Red Robin also serves chicken sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees. The restaurants offer a bar with “mixologists” who make a variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic mixed drinks such as the Freckled Lemonade and Nuclear Ice Tea.
Red Robin was established in Seattle in 1969 and now has about 470 restaurants across the U.S. and Canada.
