  • Colorful hot air balloons with creative designs will fill the sky at the New York State Festival of Balloons, set for this weekend at the Dansville Municipal Airport.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. Thursday with the traditional “balloon glow,” a free display at Brae Burn Golf Course in Dansville.
Dozens of balloon pilots from all over the Northeast and beyond typically attend.
Weather permitting, there will be six balloon launches throughout the weekend: 6 p.m. Friday, 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 6 a.m. Monday, with rides available to the public. Flights are $200 per passenger and last about an hour. Folks can sign up on site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Views include the Stony Brook gorge and several Finger Lakes.
There will also be tethered balloon rides available throughout the weekend, which are $15 for adults and $10 for kids.
There will also be entertainment, including rides and games for kids, food vendors, arts and crafts, a classic car show and live music.
Admission is $5, and free for kids age 12 and under. Parking is free.
