•   A benefit for Jodi Decker to help raise money for medicine will be held from 12-7 p.m. Saturday at Days Inn, Conference Hall, West Morris St., Bath. •    Family members of Veterans with mental health issues: The Bath VA Medical Center will offer an education session from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, November 21 in the main hospital building, Building 76, Room 511 on the VA campus. It will be a great time with great singers, please plan on attending. Reservations are necessary and can be made by calling 607-776-3738.
•      The Steuben County Veteran’s Memorial will hold a monthly business meeting at 10:30 a.m. today, Sunday, November 13 in the dining room of the facility located at 7230 State Route 54, Bath, NY. All regular Steuben County Veterans Memorial members are welcome to attend the meeting. Support your veteran’s organization.
•      The Wine Country Toastmasters will meet from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Steuben County Health Care Facility, in the guest dining room on the second floor, 7009 Rumsey Street Extension, Bath. Food/entertainment
• The Hammondsport American Legion will host their yearly Holiday Turkey Party at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Hammondsport American Legion, Roswell-McDaniels Post 407 is located in Hammondsport, New York on Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes. They will be raffling off a chance to win turkeys, hams and holiday gift items. There will also be a gun raffle and chances to win a handmade quilt. Food will be available. Proceeds from the Holiday Turkey Party benefit the Hammondsport American Legion and Auxiliary.

Classes/training
• CCC’s Workforce Development and Community Education will offer “Managing Job Stess for Increased Performance and Output” from 8:30-11:30 a.m. until Thursday at the Academic and Workforce Development Center, 318 Madison Avenue, Elmira. • NYSEG offers free engine block heater timers to farmers. Using timers on your farm vehicles’ engine block heaters during the winter months allows the heaters to run for just a few hours each morning rather than consuming electricity throughout the night. Volunteers
• Bath Area needs volunteers: RSVP....Lead with Experience
Project Care is looking for volunteers to assist older adults in the Greater Bath area to remain at home. Services needed include friendly visits, transportation, shopping, telephone calls, and light chores. Training provided.
Steuben Coordinated Transportation needs volunteer drivers to transport individuals to appointments.  Mileage reimbursement available.
Prattsburgh, Cohocton, and Campbell/ Savona schools need volunteers to serve as “Reading Buddies” providing one to one assistance to struggling readers in grades K-3.  Training provided.
Ira Davenport Hospital needs volunteers to serve in the gift shop.
Bath’s Catholic Charities/Turning Point needs volunteers to serve as a back-up receptionist as well as CA$H tax preparers.  Training provided.

Emergency loan applications
The Farm Service Agency is accepting applications in Steuben County for disaster emergency loan assistance for the following:
• Damages and losses caused by high winds, excessive rain, lightning, and flash flooding from April 26-28. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until Feb. 10, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by a tornado, high winds, hail, excessive rain, flash flooding and flooding from April 1 and continuing. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until Feb. 10, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by high winds from May 28-31. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until Feb. 10, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by tornados, high winds, hail, excessive rain, flash flooding and flooding from March 7-June 12. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until Feb. 17, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by severe storms and flooding from April 25-28. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until March 13, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by excessive rain, flash flooding and flooding and cooler than normal temperatures March 1-June 1. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until April 25, 2012.
• Damages and losses caused by excessive rain, flash flooding, flooding, high winds, lightning and cooler than normal temperatures which occurred Aug. 16. Family farmers who have suffered losses of at least 30 percent of their production due to the frost, freeze, high winds, hail, excessive rain and cold temperatures. Applications for loans under this emergency designation will be accepted until April 16, 2012.
Farmers must be unable to obtain credit from private commercial lenders. The interest rate on emergency loans is 3.75 percent. Applications and more information are available at the FSA office, 415 West Morris St., Bath. For more information call 776-7398.

Child Care
• Steuben Child Care Project gives child care providers information on a federally funded program which reimburses providers for nutritious meals served to the children in their program. The new on-line claiming process makes the required recordkeeping a snap, taking less than 5 minutes a day.  
SCCP helps child care providers access the funding that they are eligible to receive, as well as, support the providers to operate their businesses as economically as possible.  For more information on child care programs call 776-2126 or 1 (800) 553-2033.
