Mossy Bank Scott Smith, NYS DEC Region 8 Biologist will lead a discussion on Turkey an Upland Game Birds at 10:30 a.m. October 21 at the Mossy Bank Nature Center. Local Farmer's market Farmer's markets are held every Wednesday and Saturday in both Bath and Hammondsport. Fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, baked goods, and handcrafted items will be available. Hammondsport farmer's market will be held at Liberty Park, Lake Street on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bath farmer's market will be held at Pulteney Park, Liberty Street on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Can and bottle donations The Bath Band Boosters are requestion donations of cans and bottles to be brought to the collection cage, located at the Robie Street entrance to the Haverling High School. The money will go towards new band uniforms. Craft Show Coopers Plains Long Acres Fire Dept. Ladies Aux. is sponsoring a craft show on November 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire hall on Main Street in Coopers Plains. There will be gifts, bake sale, raffles, and food available. Vendors wanted Chemung County 4-H is sponsoring its 5th Annual Craft Show and Festival to be held on Saturday, October 14 at the Chemung County Fairgrounds. Vendors are wanted for this event. Finger Lakes Singers Men! Women! Are you looking for something fun and fascinating to do now that you have retired? How about joining the Finger Lakes Singers? More voices are needed, all you need to do is sing the melody, or harmonize, to the "old tunes" - "Sentimental Journey," "Sugar Time," "Peg o' My Heart." The singing takes place at local nursing homes such as the Fred and Harriett Taylor Health Center, the Steuben County Health Care Facility, the V.A. Medical Center, and Green Meadows. Rehearsal will be held once a week at the Lakeview Apartments, Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Performance is held twice a month. Wescott Post #173, 14 W. William Street, Bath. Babette "Munch" Jones was diagnosed with bone cancer. Music and raffles will be available. Donations are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets include chicken bbq, Italian sausage, hot dogs, sald potatoes, free draft with cash bar available. Story hour The Savona Free Library is forming a Fall Story Hour for preschool children. It will be on Wednesdays at noon, beginning October 4, 2006. To register, or for more information, call 583- 4426 or stop in at the library. Old fashioned country bazaar Plans and work shops are being held to hold another old fashioned country bazaar this fall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Liberty Street, Bath. Chairman of the event is Barbara Fowler. A varied menu will be serbed for the luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade soups and made to order sandwiches and wraps will be prepared. Delicious pies and cakes will be available as well. A take out can be arranged for those who'd like it. Cuba cheese will be sold and an array of baked goods, jams, and jellies will be on display to buy as gifts or for yourself. The members of the church habe made numerous crafts to make this bazaar to not miss. Coin show The Bath Collector's Club will sponsor the Bath Coin Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. October 15 at the Knights of Columbus, 321 W. Washington Blvd. in Bath. Visitors are welcome to trade, sell and buy coins while hourly door prizes will be drawn. Admission and parking are free, and the building is handicapped accessible. P-burgh Senior Club Beginning October 5, 2006 we will be meeting the 1 and 3 Thursday of each month through April 2007 at 12 noon in the Prattsburgh Methodist Church dining room, 9 Porter Street. Open to all Prattsburgh seniors, retiree's and mature adults age 55 and over. Bring a dish to pass, enjoy the social time, get to know your neighbors, meet new friends and reconnect with old friends. Fall book sale The Friends of the Library, SSC will hold its Fall Book Sale October 14 throught October 21 at the East Corning Fire Hall, East Corning Road (Route 352/between I-86 Exits 47 and 48). Annual Craft Show and Festival Chemung County 4-H is sponsoring its 5th Annual Craft Show and Festival to be held on Saturday, October 14 at the Chemung County Fairgrounds. This year will not only be a Craft Show, there will be a giant pumpkin weigh-off, bake-off, fresh produce, pony rides, food, music and a lot more for the family. The Farmer's Museum wwith Heritage Demonstrations and Entertainment will be open along with the New Conservation Building for people to walk through. Annual Harvest Supper The Hornby Volunteer Fire Department will hold an Annual Harvest Supper at 3 p.m. October 28 at the fire department, CR 41 Hornby. Supper will end after all the food is gone. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 5-12. Ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, beets, squash, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, homemade bread, homemade pumkin and apple pies. "This & That" Bazaar "This & That" Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 14 at Spring Meadow Apartments, 135 Water Street (across from Burger King), Bath. Baked goods, white elephant, crafts, ceramics, plants, paperbacks, clothes, raffles/ drawings-afghan, ceramics etc will be available. Lunch will be for sale. Lunch consistes of hamburger or hot dog plus drink for $2.50. Sausage plus drink for $3.00. Baked beans, potato or macaroni salad and dessert extra. Second Annual Holiday Bazaar The St. James' Episcopal Church will hold the Second Annual Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. November 4 at St. James' Episcopal Church, Corner of Lake and Main, Hammondsport. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The luncheon will include clam chowder and homemade bread, chili, assort. sandwiches and beverages. Events include mission jewelry, quilt raffle, white elephant table, and silent auction. Savona Free Library The Savona Free Library will hold a meeting for the Board of Trustees at 7 p.m. October 9 in the library. Bath senior trip The Village and Town of Bath Senior Trip for November 28-29 will be an overnight to Christmas in Lancaster. The trip includes accommodations, two shows, dinner, and breakfast. Bus leaves at 8 a.m. on November 28, 2006. Sign-ups will take place at the Bath Municipal Building at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006. Are you ready for Choose? It will give fear a new meaning. Choose is a walkthrough drama that will take you out of this world. Be prepared to be scared. The event will be held at Freedom Full Gospel, 200 E. Steuben, Bath. Suggested donation is $1 per person. Dates for the event are October 26, 27, 28, 30, and 31 7-9 p.m. every night. For groups of 20 people or more please call in advance at 776-7077. Turkey dinner A turkey dinner will be held from 5 p.m. till whenever, October 14 at Wayne Fire House. For more information call 292-3380. "Harvest Heartbeat for Ira" The 9th Annual "Harvest Heartbeat for Ira" Arts & Crafts Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. October 21 at the knights of Columbus Hall in Bath. The Auxiliary will sponsor a homemade baked goods sale, several drawings throughout the day, and will also have order forms available for the annual Georgia Pecan Sales Drive. Free face painting will be offered for children. Coffee and donuts will be available from 9-10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at noon. Menu to include Cindy's famous homemade macaroni and cheese, chili, soup, sandwiches and beverages. Proceeds from the Fair will benefit Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital and the Fred & Harriet Taylor Health Center. |
