Weapon possession

Steuben County Sheriff's deputies last week charged John Maxwell Lawrence, 33, of county Route 89, Town of urbana, with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and discharging a firearm without 500 feet of a dwelling.

Lawrence allegedly fired a 12 gauge shotgun in his driveway about 230 feet from a neighbor's house after having three prior felony convcitions.

He is to appear in Urbana town court at a later date. New York state police assistedin the investigation.

Unauthorized use

Bath village police last week arrested Michael L. Moran, 25, no permanent address, on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and petit larceny for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a parking space on Liberty Street and removing the CD player. Moran was to be arraigned in village court.
