Letters to the Editor
Make informed decisions this November

To the Editor,

Labor Day has passed and folks are starting to take a serious look at the choices for the November Election. Many so-called "experts" will tell you that the race is all over. I would urge voters to ignore this prediction and take a serious look at John Faso. Republican candidate for Governor.

As you well know, Medicaid costs have been strangling county governments and breaking the backs of the real property taxpayers. As the Attorney General, Elliot Spitzer has done nothing to prosecute the fraud and correct the waste in the Medicaid program.

John Faso is a former Assembly leader as well the creator of Governor Pataki's first budget and knows well how state programs take on a life of their own. Faso has a well thought out initiative to reduce the cost of Medicaid by curbing waste, rooting our fraud and implementing cost cutting programs. His opponent has a vague program which involves billions in new spending. We all know who will pay the bill for this - you. Spending more tax money has never improved any State program and it won't this time either.

Do yourself a favor and look carefully at the two major candidates - less spending and increased efficiency versus more spending and higher taxes. I plan to vote for John Faso.
