Local Farmer's market

Farmer's markets are held every Wednesday and Saturday in both Bath and Hammondsport. Fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers, baked goods, and handcrafted items will be available.

 Hammondsport farmer's market will be held at Liberty Park, Lake Street on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 Bath farmer's market will be held at Pulteney Park, Liberty Street on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Craft Show

Coopers Plains Long Acres Fire Dept. Ladies Aux. is sponsoring a craft show on November 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire hall on Main Street in Coopers Plains. There will be gifts, bake sale, raffles, and food available. For a $16/8 ft. table contact Carol Paris at 962-2183. Old fashioned country bazaar

Plans and work shops are being held to hold another old fashioned country bazaar this fall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Liberty Street, Bath. Chairman of the event is Barbara Fowler.

A varied menu will be serbed for the luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade soups and made to order sandwiches and wraps will be prepared. Delicious pies and cakes will be available as well. A take out can be arranged for those who'd like it.

Cuba cheese will be sold and an array of baked goods, jams, and jellies will be on display to buy as gifts or for yourself.

The members of the church habe made numerous crafts to make this bazaar to not miss. Second Annual Holiday Bazaar

The St. James' Episcopal Church will hold the Second Annual Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. November 4 at St. James' Episcopal Church, Corner of Lake and Main, Hammondsport. The luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The luncheon will include clam chowder and homemade bread, chili, assort. sandwiches and beverages. Events include mission jewelry, quilt raffle, white elephant table, and silent auction.

Bath senior trip

The Village and Town of Bath Senior Trip for November 28-29 will be an overnight to Christmas in Lancaster. The trip includes accommodations, two shows, dinner, and breakfast. Bus leaves at 8 a.m. on November 28, 2006.

Sign-ups will take place at the Bath Municipal Building at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006. Are you ready for Choose?

It will give fear a new meaning. Choose is a walkthrough drama that will take you out of this world. Be prepared to be scared. The event will be held at Freedom Full Gospel, 200 E. Steuben, Bath. Suggested donation is $1 per person. Dates for the event are October 30, and 31 7-9 p.m. every night. For groups of 20 people or more please call in advance at 776-7077. Gas Exploration and Leasing informational meeting

Cornell University Cooperative Extension Steuben County and the Steuben County Farm Bureau will host an informational meeting on the current situation of Gas Exploration and Leasing in the area. It will be held on November 1st from 7-10 p.m. at the Addison Central High School. Ashur Terwilliger, Chemung County FB President, and Attorney Chris Denton will address the new state regulations, the current atmosphere, and landowner rights. The Centenary United Methodist Church will host its annual fall shopping bazaar on Saturday, November 4, 2006 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a luncheon.

Finger Lakes SPCA

The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on State Route 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA.

Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities. For further information, call 776-3039.

Steuben Arc

The Steuben Arc will hold a penny social and silent aution on November 4 from 1-3 p.m. at the Arc headquarters on Route 54, Bath, behind Simmons Rockwell.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Steuben Arc Emergency Fund.

Admission is free. Local busineses have donated a variety of items and services for the silent auction. Fiftyfifty raffles, baked goods, and a number of specialized raffles will be available.

Bath VA

The Bath VA has announced the "Paint The Town Red" show will appear at the Bath Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) on November 10 at 2 p.m. in the Auditorium, Building 92 at the facility. The public is invited and there is no cost for admission to the show. Dress for Winter Drive

A Dress for Winter Drive will be held at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on November 11 at Freedom Full Gospel Assembly of God, 200 E. Steuben St., Bath. Monetary donations accepted at anytime. Hats, coats, mittens, scarves of all sizes will be available.

The event is sponsored by the Southern Tier Section Missionettes Ministry. Annual Election Night spaghetti supper

The Annual Election Night spaghetti supper will be held from 5-7 p.m. November 7 at the Bath Presbyterian Church on Pulteney Square. The menu consists of spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad or applesauce, garlic bread, beverage, and dessert. Take outs are available. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children of ages 5-12, and free for children 5 and under. This event will benefit the Youth Program. Single Adult Fellowship dance

Single Adult Fellowship presents a dance at 7:30 p.m. November 4 featuring live music by Country Boys at the First Presbyterian Methodist Church, Painted Post. The dance is open to all divorced, widowed, separated, or never married. Must by 21 years of age. Halloween in Bradford

The Town of Campbell will hold "Trick or Treat" from 5-8 p.m. October 31. Home Energy Assistance Program

New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance has announced that Regular and Emergency HEAP will open November 1, 2006. Applications will be received at the following locations:

 Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc, 117 E. Steuben St, Bath. Their hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their phone number is 776- 2125.

 Steuben County Department of Social Services, 3 E. Pulteney Square, Bath. Thier hours are Monday-Friday. Nonemergencies are seen at 9:15; 10:45; 1:30; and 3:00. Their phone number is 776- 7611

Applicants over the age of 60 can obtain infromation or a mail-in application from the Steuben County Office for the Aging; 3 E. Pulteney Square, Bath, or call 776- 7813. Applicants that received HEAP last year and do not hve an amergency need may complete their applications through the mail.

New this season: Steuben County will be participating in the HEAP Oil Buying Component. SCAP, Inc.'s Giving Tree Project

SCAP, Inc. is delighted to announce that the Giving Tree Project for 2006 will begin November 3, 2006. For the tenth year, Kim and Peter Cunningham of Georgia's Tree Farm in Prattsburgh have donated the tree, which is located at SCAP Inc.'s Administration Building at 16 West William Street, Bath. The tree is decorated with gift tags indicating the needs of our supported living consumers and their children.

Each year, throught the generosity of SCAP, Inc. employees, Board members and our friends in the greater community, Christmas gifts are provided for those who would not otherwise receive a gift. Please consider stopping by 16 West William Street in Bath, selecting a gift tag indicating a gift suggestion, buying and gift wrapping a present then place in uder the "Giving Tree."

All gifts need to arrive by December 11, 2006 for distribution throughout our service sites. American Sign Language Club

Whether you're hearing or deaf, know sign or are interested in learning sign, the American Sign Language Club would like for you to join them at the Dormann Library from 10-11:30 a.m. on the following dates November 4, and December 2, 16, and 30.
