Marion L. Springer BATH - Marion L. Springer, 82, of Fairview Drive passed away Sunday, October 29 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira following a short illness. Marion was born January 21, 1924 in Jasper to George and Ora Williams Waight. On June 25, 1943 in Jasper she married Clifford A. Springer who predeceased her in May of 1993. She was also predeceased by a son Darryl Springer in 1967, two brothers; Allan and Dale Waight and one sister Doris Hibbard. Marion was a graduate of Jasper Central school class of 1941. In a span of 54 years she was a senior clerk for the Steuben County Clerks office in Bath and was also town clerk for the town of Fremont. She was a member of the Steuben County Historical Society. She was a full time volunteer for the Genealogy Research Dept in which she was very instrumental in establishing, located in the Steuben County Historian's office. Marion and her late husband were also proud foster parents for many years for 19 children. Marion is survived by three daughters: Maretta Kirk of Huntington, Indiana, Donna DeVinney (Robert Morrison) of Leesburg, Florida and Joyce (John) Pierson of Bath, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. Several nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc Funeral Home, 29 East Main St in Canisteo, where funeral and committal services were held Thursday, November 2 at 11 a.m. Burial was held in Mt Hope Cemetery in Troupsburg.
