Robert E. Wheeler Jr.

SAVONA - Robert E. Wheeler, Jr. age 61, of Savona, died Thursday, November 2 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Robert was born in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania on October 27, 1945, to Robert and Lillian(Burrows) Wheeler.

He was employed by Wegman's in Hornell as the Meat Manager. He was an avid golfer and hunter, and enjoyed fishing. He coached little league for eight years. Robert served in the US Navy from 1963-1966.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Lillian Wheeler; one daughter, Carla (Lee) Thomas of Nashville, Tennessee; two sons: Scott (Christal) Wheeler of Campbell and Robert (Fabian) Wheeler of Chappaqua; one sister, Laura (William) Sawyer of Whiteboroughs; two brothers, William (Kathy) Wheeler of Rochester and Wayne Wheeler of Florida; a step son, David (Julie) Stevens of Virginia; grandchildren, Braxtin, Ashley, Robert, Kyle, Angelique, and Gabrielle; his childrens mother, Mina Wheeler of Wayne; his companion, Kim Clark of Savona; a foster son, Ray Shawn of Savona.

Calling hours were held on Monday, November 6, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning, where funeral services followed at 7 p.m. with Reverend David Ryall officiating.
