Bath Lacrosse at Ithaca Turkey Shoot Tournament

The Bath 7th and 8th grade team competed in Ithaca's Turkey Shoot Lacrosse Tournament on November 4th. This tournament features over 200 teams from as far away as Canada, Massachusetts, Maryland and Ohio, not to mention lacrosse's hotbed of Central NY. The Bath team had a strong showing in their first game against Churchville Chili, who beat Bath last year 14-5. With a combination of sharp passing, tough defense and an outstanding effort by goalie Robert Masti, Bath defeated Chili by a score of 14-9. Their next opponent was a physical team from Ottawa. Setting the tone early, Bath went up 6-3 at the half. Ottawa came out fighting in the second half and tied the game up at 7-7 with a minute left in regulation. Two "sudden victory" periods were played before Ottawa notched the winning goal to give them an 8-7 win. Bath's final opponent of the day was against an always powerful Penn Yan team. Bath had Penn Yan on their heels in the first half with a score of 8-3. Never looking back and adding another 6 goals, Bath went on to defeat Penn Yan with a final score of 14-3. This was a significant victory for the Bath program, which is still in its infancy.

This explosive offense was led by Zach Reed with 10 goals and 10 assists, Nick Rossi with 6 goals and 6 assists, Drew Wager with 8 goals and 3 assists, Brett Partridge with 5 goals and 5 assists, Kyle Harrison with 4 goals and 3 assists, and Brian Hojnoski with 2 goals. Backup goalie Andrew Clark also contributed quality minutes on attack. Anchoring the defensive end with aggressive and consistent play was Tyler Hutcheson, Trevor Lang, Cody Madigan, and Jeff McKinley. Robert Masti had a stellar day in goal coming up with a combined total of 47 saves for the tournament. It was a great team effort and represents the finest showing Bath has had in this annual tournament.
