BATH - Past Haverling soccer coach Tom Hagadorn will be honored on Nov. 18 when he is sworn in to the New York State Soccer Hall of Fame

The ceremony will take place in Oneonta during the New York State High School Soccer Championships at the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Hagadorn began his coaching career in Bath in 1973 and from 1973 to 1980 was the head junior varsity coach for Haverling.

In 1981 he began a successful run as varsity coach that spanned 20 seasons, ending in the fall of 2000. During this time Hagadorn amassed a record of 335 wins, 66 losses, and 18 ties.

Along the way, his teams won 15 league championships, eight Section V Titles (10 appearances in the finals) and four Western Regional Championships. His teams also appeared in three state championship games, and won a Class B State Championship in 1996 as his team finished the season a perfect 25-0-0 (only Section V team to ever win 25 games with no losses or ties).

In that memorable season Hagadorn's team was ranked #1 in New York State for all classes and eighth in the NSCAA/Umbro National Poll.

Hagadorn was voted by his peers as the Section V Coach of the Year for his class 10 times, and in 1994 he was voted the New York State Large School Coach of the Year.

Hagadorn's varsity teams from 1995-1997 played 54 straight matches without a defeat, and this still stands as the longest unbeaten streak in Section V history. His teams also won two Catherman Sportsmanship awards in 1984 and 1994. Hagadorn was a member

of the Section V Soccer Committee for 20 years and served as the Section V soccer chairman from 2001- 2005. Additionally, he served as the Steuben County Soccer Chairman for more than 10 years. He was also the NSCAA Scholar All- America Eastern Regional Representative for four years and served twice as the cochairman of the committee that hosted two State Tournaments that were held in Bath/Cohocton.

Hagadorn was also very involved in youth soccer in Bath. He was the founder and president of the Bath Kiwanis Youth Soccer League and ran the summer league for 20 years. In 1993 and 1997 he was awarded the Steuben County Presidential Award., and in 2000 he was presented with the Steuben County Fenner- Nadeau Award for Lifetime Contributions to Steuben County Athletics.
