Glenn L. Taft

BATH - Glenn L. Taft, 79, of Dogwood St, Bath, formerly of Jasper, entered into rest on Monday, November 13, at Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath.

Glenn was born in Canisteo on August 19, 1927, the son of Truman E. and Louise Holt Taft. He served in the US Army from 1946- 1948. On April 10, 1948, he and Pauline DuVall were married. Pauline predeceased him on November 13, 2002. He later married Barbara Ellis Horton on November 24, 2004. She survives.

Glenn was a long time employee of Dresser-Rand Company in Painted Post. He had received his fifty year service pin. He was a member of the United Church of Jasper as well as the Addison American Legion Post. Glenn dearly loved his family, his home town of Jasper and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was inseparable from his pet dog.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Bath, his children, William Taft of Woodhull, Barry and Mary Taft of Bath, Connie Taft and Elmer of Friendship, Doug and Jerry Horton of Campbell, Chuck and Nancy Horton of South Carolina, Cindy Knickerbocher and Mel Calkins of Campbell, Lori and Bill Kennedy of Tyron and Lisa and Tom Nybeck of Corning. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides Glenn's first wife, Pauline, he was predeceased by his son, Richard Taft and infant daughter Faye Louise Taft.

The family received friends on Friday, November 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1607 Main St, Woodhull. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. following visitation with Rev. David Barnard, Pastor of the United Church of Jasper, officiating. Burial was held in Jasper Cemetery.
