George S. Messick

HAMMONDSPORT - George S. Messick, 78, of 9953 County Route 78 passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 19, 1928 in Champlain, the son of William and Florence Messick.

George was a retiree of Sutherland Builders of Penn Yan retiring over 15 years ago and was a scrap metal remover in the area.

Surviving are his children Susanne (Erwin) Robinson of Hammondsport, Betty King of Bath, Sharon Messick of Syracuse, Daniel (Desiree) Messick of Missouri, Anita (Tony) Hamilton of Bradford, Andrew Messick of Hammondsport and Angela Lawrence of Wayne. 14 grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are several brothers, sisters and nieces and nephews.

He wa pre-deceased by his wife Eldora in 2002 and daughter Marianne in 1988.

Friends called Friday, Nov. 24 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 25 Main Street, Hammondsport where funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. Maureen O'Neill officiated and interment was held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family for funeral expenses.
