George L. Hoak

EAST PEORIA - George L. Hoak, 91, of 900 Centennial Drive, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, November 7 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. He was formerly of 701 Fischer Road in Creve Coeur.

Born January 10, 1915 in Curwensville, Pennsylvania to George M. and Gertie E.

Harrier) Hoak, he married Opal Marie Miller on September 1, 1971 in Morton. She died May 31, 1978 in Creve Coeur. He was also preceded in death by two sons (Gary Hoak and LeRoy Hoak), seven sisters, and three brothers.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Gerald LeRoy Hoak of Peoria, Eric Hoak and Susan M. (Bill) Elliott, both of Houston, Texas, and Sherrie Hoak of Bartonville; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Hoak, Sr. of Pekin; and three sisters, Lorenza Lecker of Saint Mary's, Pennsylvania, L. Flo

Keith) Dewey of Bath, and B. Faith Williams of New Castle, Pennsylvania.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. George worked as a truck driver for Hicks Oil Company from 1974 to 1985. He was a member of the Bartonville American Legion Post and the Creve Coeur Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He formerly attended Elmridge Baptist Church in East Peoria.

His funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 13 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, where visitation was held 30 minutes before the funeral. Rev. Jimmy Walden officiated. Burial was held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 13 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military rites were accorded by the Inter- Veterans Burial Detail of

Sangamon County.
