Rev. Elwin "Al" Allen
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Millie Allen; two sons, David (Patty) Allen of Altamonte Springs, Florida, and Michael (Carol) Allen of Cohocton; daughter, Cathy Jo Allen of Farmington; 10 grandchildren, Brenden, Lindsay, Derrick and Cameron, all of Florida; Eric, Craig, Leah, Seth, Mariah and JoAnnah, all of Cohocton; six sisters, Elsie (Eldon) Drum, Donna (Frank) Wydner, Judy Blake, Lillian (Reynold) Belanger, Marlena (Ronald) Schillinger and Pauline Wise; three brothers, Paul (Rosie) Allen, Alton (Carol) Allen and Billy (Mary) Wise; brother-in-law, Jake (Jean) Schwitzer; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Jamin, and two brothers, Milton and Ross. Pastor Allen was born in Avoca, the son of Guy and Anna (Earley) Allen. He attended Avoca schools, and was a graduate of Avoca Central School, class of 1952. He was a U.S. Air Force veterans. Pastor Allen formerly worked at the V.A. Medical Center in Bath. He also was a jewelry manufacturer, and owned and operated Jaqueline Creations of North Cohocton. He served as a pastor for many years at the Oasis Full Gospel Chapel in North Cohocton. Pastor Allen was working part-time at the Ellm Bible Institute in Lima. He also operated a lawn care service. He enjoyed horticulture and various forms of art. Pastor Allen loved his ministry, and his mission trips. Friends called Nov. 24 at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His funeral service was held Nov. 25 at Zion Fellowship, 5188 Bristol Road, Canandaigua. Interment was held in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Cohocton. AIn lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. |
