Prattsburgh voters okay $2.4 million school project PRATTSBURGH A $2,425,000 capital project for the Prattsburgh School District was approved by voters 112-13 Tuesday. The facilities project will be mainly funded by state aid and $375,880 in Excel aid, with no increase in taxes. "This project is designed so at least 97 percent of the cost will be covered by a combination of state building aid and the state Excel grant," s a i d Superintendent Jeffery Black. "In addition, there will be significant savings in energy and service costs as a result of these improvements. Therefore, the net cost to the local taxpayers could be less than zero." The plan includes: Increasing security in the district's three buildings. Eliminating moisture on the first floor of the main building. Replacing boilers, pumps, unit ventilators, piping and converters in the main building. Repairing walls, floors and ceilings. Upgrading the energy control systems and lighting. Improving water tempering and plumbing fixtures. Upgrading the school telephone and intercom system. Improving the concrete exterior entrances at the main building. The district hopes to place bids out next spring, with construction planned to start next summer. |
