Sexual misconduct

Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies last week charged Cody R. Seager, 17, of state Route 415 with ne count of sexual misconduct after an investigation into an incident that occurred in the Village of Savona in October.

Seager was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in Savona village court.

State police and the district attorney’s office assisted in the investigation.

Grand larceny

Sheriff’s deputies last week charged Christopher D. Pierce, 25, of Meads Creek Road, Campbell, with fourthdegree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in connection with the theft of a large industrial freezer from Gereow’s Store on Meads Creek road, Campbell.

Deputies say they received an anonymous tip Pierce had stolen the freezer.

He was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in Campbell town court.

Criminal contempt

Bath village police last wee arrested William Bless, 61, on charges of second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree criminal trespass.

The charges stem from a domestic complaint at 14 w. Washington St., Bath. Bless was placed in lock-up pending an appearance in village court.

DWI

Village police last week charged Jodi Hamilton, 23, of corning with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 percent, speeding and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Hamilton was to appear at a later date in village court.

Truck fire

New York state police Thursday reported no injuries in a truck fire that occurred on Wednesday at 6:30 on Interstate 390 in the Town of cohocton.

Raymond, G. Bechtold, 32, of Akron, N.Y., was transporting eight new vehicles when he observed flames bursting from the undercarriage of his trailer.

Bechtold pulled off the highway and tried to extinguish the flames, but was unsuccessful. The trailer and six of the vehicles were declared a total loss.

The incident closed the southbound lanes of I 390 between the Cohocton and Avoca exits or several hours. cohocton police and numerous fire departments assisted at the scene.

Reported theft

State police are asking for assistance in heir investigation of the reported theft of a John deer log skidder that had been parked off Birdseye Hollow Road in the Town of Wayne.

The owner of the skidder is David Wilson of Risingville, a private logger who had contracted to log a portion of state land along the road.

The stolen equipment is described as an older Deere model 440BC, yellow in color. It is a large, heavy piece of equipment that would be difficult to conceal.
