Betty I. Tillman HAMMONDSPORT — Betty I. Tillman, 84, of 41 West Lake Rd. passed away Saturday, December 9 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. She was born June 26, 1922 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, the daughter of James and Minnette Meade Howe. Her husband Ray P. Tillman passed away January 18, 1988. Betty had worked at Mercury Aircraft in the 1940’s and was a teachers aide at the Hammondsport Central School for 10 years in the 1970’s. She had been a volunteer at the Curtiss Museum and was the longest continuous serving member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Hammondsport and also was very active with the E.C.W. of the church. Surviving are her daughters Jacquelyn Porter of Bath, Joan (John) Rogerson of Hammondsport, Janet (Richard) Hudiburg of Sheffield, Alabama, and Nancy (Brian) Snyder of Hammondsport; 4 grandchildren, Shawn (Melinda) Grube, Douglas (Michelle) Porter, Christopher and Benjamin Hudiburg; 6 greatgrandchildren Vanessa, Robin, Thea, AnaLeise, Cherlyn and Bryn and loving nieces, nephews and many friends. She was pre-deceased by her sister Jeanne Lent and brothers Robert and James Howe. Friends called Monday, December 11 from 6-9 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, Rev. Sandra Curtis officiated. Interment was held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport. The family provided their own flowers, memorials should be made to the Chruch or the Curtiss Museum. After the committal services a luncheon was held in the undercroft of the church. |
