Bath town board minutes, Nov. 13 Old Business: Supervisor Muller presented information regarding the 2007 Town Budget. The Public Hearing was held on November 9, 2006. He announced the tax rate increase for 2007 for the Town outside of the Village of Bath is 3.244% or 18.8 cents per thousand; the Village of Bath, 4.15% or 11.01 cents per thousand; and the Village of Savona, 4.07% or 10.9 cents per thousand. Motion by Councilman Kropp-seconded by Councilman Burns-to approve the 2007 Town of Bath budget. Adopted: Councilman Glosick Aye Councilman Kropp Aye Councilperson Lattimer Aye Councilman Burns Aye Supervisor Muller Aye Mr. Muller stated the cost of health insurance increased about 14% from 2006, but with the changes taken to reduce costs, such as 10% copay and union insurance, the increase over the 2005 budget is 2.2%. Fuel costs have also increased the budget as well as a 3% wage increase for most employees. No board member nor the Supervisor received a salary increase. Attorney Squires has drafted a Local Law concerning proposed New York State Fire Prevention and Building Codes. The proposed law requires the Town to have a procedure in place for identifying unsafe buildings and structures. He asked Code Officer Buckland for suggestions. Mr. Buckland will present a sample law from the Town of Tyrone. Fire safety and property maintenance law requires inspection every three years maximum, but the Board can determine otherwise. Code Enforcement Officer Buckland will get an existing state procedure to study before the Public Hearing on November 27, 2006. |
