4-Hers honored at banquet BATH Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben Countys 4-H Horse Program held its annual awards banquet on November 10, 2006 at Haverling High School. Approximately 126 members, leaders, and parents attended the dinner. The awards were as follows: Five members received recognition for completing one or more levels of the Clover Program. The Clover Program was developed by the Steuben County 4-H Horse Leaders to provide a standard curriculum and activity guide. Members move through the program at their own pace and are competency tested at each level. First Year Project Record Awards were given to Vanessa Olin, Bath Trailblazers; Michaela Anderson, Hannah Brunner, Jennifer Van Skiver and Sarah Van Skiver, Dansvilles Rock On Riders; Alivia Cole and Brittany Trappler, Horse- N-Around; Kelly Symonds, J-T Rough Riders; and Gregory Thomas, Little Rascals. Jenny Groen of the Prattsburgh Pioneers received the Farm Credit Award for completing the Best 4-H Horse Record. Awards were given to 21 horse show helpers in appreciation of their efforts. Thirtyseven awards were presented to members who participated in Regional and State Hippology. Ten members received awards for Regional and State Horse Communications. Forty-five awards were presented for participating in County, Regional and State Horse Quiz Bowl. Six members were recognized for participating in Regional and State Horse Judging. Plaques were awarded to ten 4-Hers who participated in the 4-H Horse Show at New York State Fair. Pelham Electric, Bath, sponsored the winner of the Saddle Log Award. Brittany Trappler was the winner riding the most number of hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Tara Silsbee, Ba t h Trailblazers; Jennifer Van Skiver, and Ashley Warriner, Horse-N-Around, logged over 150 hours. Members logging over 100 hours were Michaela Anderson, Holly Bedient, Little Rascals; and Hannah Smith and Catherine VonHagn, Highland Riders. Members logging over 75 hours were Megan Warriner, Horse-N-Around, and Jenna Brokaw, Loon Lake Raiders. Honorable Mention awards were given to Sarah Van Skiver, Dansvilles Rock On Riders, and Garret Brokaw, Loon Lake Raiders. Cloverbud Recognition Awards were given to Veronica Olin, Bath Trailblazers; Anna VonHagn and Rache l VonHagn, Highland Riders; Mariah Martinez and Tiffany Trappler, Horse-N-Around; Rilee Calkins, J-T Rough Riders; Charlie Coley and Madison Lewis, Loon Lake Raiders; and Cassondra Mark, Prattsburgh Pioneers. Club sponsored awards were given for Most Improved Rider and Sportsmanship. Received Most Improved Rider Awards were Nikki VonHagn, Bath Trailblazers; Tyler Calkins, J-T Rough Riders; and Sheri Bidlack, Loon Lake Raiders. Club Sportsmanship Awards were presented to the Applebee Family, Bath Trailblazers; and Kali Covert, Loon Lake Raiders. County sportsmanship awards were presented to Annaliese Ross, Li t t le Rascals; Tara Silsbee, and Megan Warriner. Each year the Sunny Award is given to a horse that has been ridden by several 4-H members as a good beginner horse. This years recipient was Fribbles Blues ridden this year by Becky Bidlack, Loon Lake Raiders. |
