Learning to read in Hammondsport!
The Little Readers Learn-to-Read group gathers in the children’s room of the Hammondsport Public Library. First row: Shelby Sherman and Kayla Hillyard. Little Readers (gradesK-1) practice reading skills in a friendly, no-pressure setting.The group begins meetiing on Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. The library also sponsors two book discussion groups for children in grades 2a nd 3 and grades 4 and 5. Both groups will use selections from The Great Books Foundation. Dates: The grades 4 and5 group starts January 9 at 5 p.m. and runs every other week The grades 2 and3 group starts January 16 at 5 p.m. and runs every other week The library’s Book Discussion Group meets on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome. The Jan. 8 book is “The Grapes of Wrath,” by John Steinbeck. For more information, call 569-2045. Pre-registration for all groups is requested.
