BATH — Bath Haverling brought its best effort of the season in a 104-82 victory against Hornell Thursday, Dec. 21, in an LCAA swim meet.

Johnlee Covell and Steve Joint were both winners in four events for the Rams, who contributed 20 personal best times in the rivalry match against the Red Raiders.

“It’s a great rivalry for us,” said Bath Haverling head coach Mike Morris. “There were a lot of close races and this was one time when Bath came up on the winning end.”

Covell and Joint, both captains, were winners on the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams with Justin Brown and Adam Webster. Covell was an individual winner in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and Joint was a winner in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Third captain Luke Ferree added second place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

“The captains pretty much led the team,” added Morris, “and the kids responded. I was proud of them.”

Also winning for the Rams was Eric Hojnoski who took the diving competition with a score of 179.75.

Hornell was led by Nate Chapman who was a winner in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team with Elliot Weaver, Matt Wilcox and Jeff Hanrahan.

Other winners for Hornell were Wilcox (100 butterfly) and Elliot Weaver (100 backstroke).

Bath Haverling improved to 7-2 and the Rams will swim again Jan. 4th at Avon at 5 p.m.
