Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary of Unit 173 meets every second Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Charles Wescott Post on William Streeet in Bath.

SPCA donations

The Finger Lakes SPCA is requesting area residents to continue donating returnable cans and bottles to the shelter on State Route 54. The recyclable materials are a significant source of income for the SPCA.

Volunteers also are needed to assist in the delivery of returnable materials to recycling centers and in walking dogs and cleaning facilities. For further information, call 776-3039. Parking permits available

Bath Village Police Chief David K. Rouse reports that Bath Village Parking Permits for the year 2007 are now abailable. Permit holders pay $10 per month and may park in the Municipal lot or at 10 hour parking meter locations. Permits are sold at the Bath Police Department.

Spaghetti dinner

St. James Episcopal Church in Hammondsport will hold a spaghetti supper from 4-6:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at the church, Corner of Lake and Main St., Hammondsport. Menu of homemade spaghetti and meatballs, homemade bread, a salad bar, a dessert bar with Italian desserts and a complimentary glass of wine as well as coffee, tea and milk. Adults are $6.50, Children from ages 3-12 are $3, and children under 3 are free.

The supper is co-chaired by Nancy and Floyd French. Women Business Owners' Roundtable

The Women Business Owners' Roundtable will meet at 9 a.m. Wenesday, Jan. 10 at the Small Business Development Center, 24 Denison Parkway, Corning. Stephanie Miller, eMarketing Manager at the Steuben County Conference & Visitors Bureau will present "Women and Technology: The Well- Rounded eMarketing Campaign on a Small Budget." Women business owners in the Southern Tier region are invited to participate. Call the SBDC at 962- 9461 for information. Exploring Credit/Debt Issues

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County Consumer and Financial Management Education Program is offering an Exploring Credit/Debt Issues Workshop from 1-3 p.m. January 20 at the Wayland Free Library, W. Naples St., Wayland.

Nancy Reigelsperger, Extension Educator, will help participants explore ways to establish good credit, how to make wise choices when evaluating credit offers, understanding a credit report and how to fix inaccurate information, ways to improve one's credit worthiness, and strategies for paying down debt.

Cornell Cooperative Extension will present Save Energy, Save Dollars workshop which will help participants explore ways to reduce energy bills through no cost/low cost conservation ideas.The free workshops are being held at the Dormann Library Jan. 30, from 6-8 p.m. Steuben County Dairy Day

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County announces the return of the annual Steuben County Dairy Day on January 17. Dairy Day will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Bath, on Pulteney Square, from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The focus this year will be on increasing profitability through low investment, high return management opportunities on dairy farms. Dairy Day will also feature numerous exhibitors from the dairy industry. Ample time will be given to attendees to visit with the exhibitors and other dairy producers.

 DHI Testing - benefits of being on test, products/ services offered by Dairy One

A committee meeting will be held at 6 p.m. January 9 at the Days Inn, West Morris Street, Bath. Anyone interested in helping to plan for the 2007 Bath Relay for Life is encouraged to attend the meeting. Help is needed on al committee's.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County will host a small ruminant health workshop January 22 at the Civil Defense Center in Bath from 7-9 p.m.

Productive animals are the key to any profitable farm operation. Dr. Glenn Fahnestock, a former producer and veterinarian, will discuss how to keep small ruminants healthy and productive by focusing on prevention. Sheep and goat producers will learn how to improve the bottom line of their farm business with healthy animals. Whether you own a single sheep or a large herd of goats you will find this discussion full of valuable information.

Topics to be addressed:

 Prevention of common illnesses

 Vaccination & herd health recommendations

 Treating sheep and goats for common illness & metabolic disorders

There is no cost to attend this meeting, however reservations are appreciated. Reservations can be made by contacting CCE-Steuben at 664-2300. The Civil Defense Center is located on Route 54, approximately 2 miles north of Bath, across from the Kwik Fill gas station.

DAV meeting

The Disabled American Veterans will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. January 8 at The Bath VA Medical Clinic. New members are welcomed to attend.
