Scholarship to honor Zachary Hann

CAMPBELL - Relatives of the late Zachary Hann are raising funds in support of a scholarship to honor the 14- year-old boy who died in a car crash on Wheeler Road in Howard Dec. 22, 2006.

The fund drive includes a dinner scheduled for Jan. 28 at the Campbell American Legion. Tickets for the meal, which begins at noon and features Polish cooking, go on sale Monday at the following locations: WVIN Radio; The American Legion Charles Wescott Post in Bath; M. J. Ward and Son Inc. in Bath; the Campbell American Legion Post; The Flying H stores of Savona and Campbell, and Kozy Korner and Ranch 226 Grocery, both located in Bradford.

Tickets will be on sale until Jan. 25 and may also be obtained by calling Pam Drumm at 962-3557.

The Jan. 25 meal begins at noon and will include cabbage rolls, perogies, vegetables, rolls and beverages. Relatives of Zachary will use the proceeds to establish a scholarship for a graduating senior at Haverling High School in memory of the Haverling student. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Separately, anyone wishing to assist the Hann family directly with medical and funeral expenses may send a donation to Chemung Canal Trust Company, 410 West Morris St., Bath, NY, 14810, for the Zachary Hann Fund.

Zachary died when the car in which he was a passenger veered off the Wheeler Road. His sister, Megan A. Hann, 22, suffered a neck fracture, and his brother, Jacob Hann, 16, suffered facial and head injuries. A twin brother, Caleb Hann, suffered abrasions.
