Board should forget about municipal water

In Sunday's (1/7/07) Courier and Leader - again, Lake Salubria makes front page news. What I am hearing from the Bath Town Board is… since we didn't get our way in passing municipal water/sewer around Lake Salubria, we'll try another approach. Get the Health Dept. involved and make "all" homes around Lake Salubria install new septic systems. What's next? Search warrants to enter our property and homes?

After the water/sewer project was defeated last year I thought "good" now they (BTB) will leave us alone.

I'm getting too old, but standing up to you somehow makes me feel young again.

You (BTB) stated in the Corning Leader and Courier how expensive the new septic systems would be. However, I think a lot less than $800 a year for 30 years. That equals $24,000 plus low cost interest and a water/sewer bill every month to pay. Ms. Lattimer of the Bath Town Board mentions "boilerplate system designs" regarding septic construction. Does anyone out there know what a boilerplate design is and who designed it?

(Under separate cover I'll drop her a note and follow up.)

Read in the papers what happened to municipal water in Hornell, Elmira, Horseheads. I prefer to drink my well water.

To all persons involved with the water/sewer in and around Lake Salubria you must stand up for your "rights" and be prepared to be heard. Lois Hough Bath
