WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Rep. John R. Kuhl Jr. was named last week to three House committees.

Kuhl will serve as a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the House Agriculture Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee.

The Hammondsport congressman served on each committee during his first term in Congress.

Kuhl was also named a deputy whip in the Republican Leadership of the 110th Congress.

Deputy whips are responsible for helping the Republican leadership manage the party's legislative program on the house floor.

"Randy will be an excellent deputy whip, and I am pleased that he has agreed to take on this very important job," said U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Mo. "I am looking forward to working with him every day to move the Republican agenda

forward in the House."

Blunt said Kuhl's new role will give the 29th Congressional District a bigger

voice in the decisionmaking process in the House. "This is all great news for

the 29th Congressional District," Kuhl said. "Transportation, agriculture and education are three of the key elements of the upstate New York economy, so legislation originating and moving through these committees could have a wideranging impact on our area."
