Albert C. D'Angelo GANGREUNG, SOUTH KOREA - Albert C. D´Angelo, age 35, died January 1 in Gangreung South Korea due to an accident while motorgliding over the sea, videotaping the first sunrise of 2007 from East Asia where Japan and Korea get their nicknames "The Land of the Rising Sun" and "The Land of the Morning Calm". Born in Hornell and a native of Bath, Albert was an ESOL Teacher (teaching English to speakers of other languages) in South Korea and previously taught in Taejeon City, South Korea, Bejing, China, Sicily and Calabria, Italy and Tampa, Florida. He was an Army Veteran, had a Bachelor of Art Degree in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) from Hawaii Pacific University, had his Master of Science Degree in TESL from Nova South Eastern University and was studying for his Doctorate. While teaching in Florida Albert was awarded by the National Junior Honor Society as Honorary Faculty Member. His profession was his passion and dream, the smiles and laughter he saw in his students was his greatest reward. Albert was multilingual and very musically inclined at the piano, accordion and other instruments. He was known by many as a very nice, outgoing person who instantly became friends with people. Albert had a passion for the sky. He was a member of a Paragliding Club in Korea. He had skydived over a thousand times, became interested in Ultralights and most recently had purchased a motorglider, as he described, when flying in his Para/motorglider, without the obstruction of dirty glass or plastic windows or goggles, he was able to experience bone-chilling beauty over the Korean Cities. He is survived by his father Sam (Marilyn) D'Angelo of Hammondsport, his brother, Joseph (Crystal Scheibel) D'Angelo of Bath, his sister Mary Jean D'Angelo of St. Pete's Beach, Florida, nieces and nephews, Anthony and Hannah D'Angelo of Bath and Christian and Sophia D'Angelo of California, uncles Carl (Lenora) D'Angelo of Buffalo, David Ventura and Phillip Ventura of Florida and Frank Ventura of Tennessee, aunts, Millie Lotempio of Buffalo and Mary Louise Ventura of Buffalo, his grandmother, Carmela D'Angelo of Buffalo and several cousins and many worldwide friends. Albert was predeceased by his mother Joanne D'Angelo and brother Charles D'Angelo. A Memorial Mass will be held on February 3 at St. Mary's Church in Bath at 11 a.m. with Reverend John Wydeven as celebrant. Fagan's Funeral Home in charge of arrangments. |
