Your Community Cornell Cooperative Extension will present Save Energy, Save Dollars workshop which will help participants explore ways to reduce energy bills through no cost/low cost conservation ideas.The free workshops are being held at the Dormann Library Jan. 30, from 6-8 p.m. Yard sale The American Sewing Guild Southern Tier Chapter will hold a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Hammondsport Fire Department. At conclusion of the yard sale a cut and sew program will be held to benefit the American Cancer Society. Machines will be provided. This program is from 12:30-4 p.m. Refreshments will be available by the Hammondsport Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. Vendors are needed to sell sewing and craft related items. 8' tables are $10 for ASG members and $20 for non-ASG members. Donations of fabric, patterns, books, etc. will be accepted. Are all welcome. Historical Society lecture The Steuben County Historical Society will sponsor the second lecture in its 2007 series at 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at the Empire Room of the Dormann Library, West Morris St., Bath. Lecture is open to the public. Kirk House, historian and former director of the Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport, will speak on the topic, "Steam Boats on Keuka Lake." Internet Safety program Bath Central School District Staff, along with representatives of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, will present an Internet Safety program from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 30 in the Haverling High School auditorium. This free seminar is pen to parents and community members in Bath and surrounding communities. Landlord meeting The Bath Area Landlord Association will hold a landlord meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Clyde F. Simon Lakeview Apartments, 105 Geneva St., Bath. Bath Board meeting A special meeting has been called by the Bath Board of Education at 7p.m. Feb. 1 in the District Office for discussion and review of the Building Condition Survey and any other matters brought to its attention. Cheerleading Championship The Section V Cheerleading Championship will be held Feb. 3 at SUNY Geneseo, 1 College Circle, Geneseo. The time schedule for the competition is as follows: 7:30 a.m. doors open, 8:30 a.m. A and CC Classification (alternating), 11 a.m. BB and C Classification (alternating), 1:30 p.m. D and DD Classification (alternating), 4 p.m. AAA and B Classification (alternating), 6:30 p.m. AA and CCC Classification (alternating) Admission for all spectators is $5. Cheerleading Tournament Steuben County Cheerleading Tournament will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Campbell-Savona High School, Campbell. Valentine's dinner The First Presbyterian Church of Bath will hold a Valentine's dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Church. The cost for adults is $7, $4 for children 12 and under and free for children 3 and under. Take outs will be available. The menu is chicken and biscuits, tossed salad, hot rolls and apple or cherry pie.The dinner will benefit for the church's stained glass windows and mission fund. Legion visitation dinner The American Legion Charles E. Wescott Post #173 will host the Steuben County American Legion visitation dinner on Feb. 8 beginning at 6 p.m. The dinner will honor James W. Casey, Department Commander; Joan Caccamo, auxiliary president, and Albert J. Deichler, detachment commander. A cash bar will be open at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. at a cost of $17 per person. Entrees are pork tenderloin or chicken picatta. Reservations may be made by Feb. 1 with checks made payable to Charles E. Wescott Post #173 Finance Officer and sent to: Ford Bruce, 208 Campbell St., Bath, NY 14810.
