Still time to apply for HEAP funding

Eligible area residents still have time to apply for Home Energy and Assistance Program funds. HEAP is a program that aids eligible households in meeting their home energy needs.

"Although winter is finally descending upon us with colder temperatures and bad weather, residents should not have to choose between buying groceries or paying the utility bill," said state Assemblyman James Bacalles, R-Corning.

Guidelines for eligibility and the application can be found on the website for the Office of Temporary and Dis a b i l ity Assistance (www.otda.state.ny.us/otda/h eap/default.htm) or by calling 1-800-342-3309. Individual may also obtain information from the S t e u b e n C o u n t y Department of Social Services by calling (607) 776-7611 or call the Yates County Department of Social Services at (315) 536- 5184.
