Saying goodbye to that ol' reliable recliner

For some guys, there's just nothing like that good ol' recliner that's been around so long, it's part of the family.

For years, you've held on to the same old rickety chair that could possibly be infested with an unimaginable amount of microscopic organisms who have made a happy home there.

While there's nothing like having the trusty chair to go home to, there comes a time in the life of a chair when it goes from reliable to kindling.

Perhaps that time is now. But before you go diving in front of your favorite lounger, check out some of the cool new breakthroughs in the world of recliners.

For example, did you know there are recliners out there with a refrigerator built into the chair? Some have speakers built into the headset and can receive radio or be wired to your tv. Want a new chair yet?

Before jumping in the car and buying all the coolest, newest stuff, take the time to be choosy. The chair you choose will likely be with you for a long long time.

With the plethora of options available, it's hard to buy a chair over the Internet, unless you've tested it first. It's important to find a chair that fits, as comfort will be maximized if you are fully supported.

If you experience back or neck pain, look into a specialty chair. For those who have problems sitting and standing on their own, lift models are also available. These chairs are both comfortable, functional and stylish.

Material is another important factor. While the classic look of leather is preferred, it's the more expensive option. However, leather is sturdy and attractive. Leather furniture is made to put up with moderate abuse. It will resist tearing, fading, cracking and peeling. Faux or vinyl covered furniture, made often to resemble leather, is easier to tear and can become sticky.

Leather is easier to clean though, and won't absorb stains. A padded fabric could show dirt and spills after a while and some fabrics are hard to clean. Take this into consideration when buying.

Also, look for a warranty. New furniture often comes with a limited lifetime warranty, covering the mechanical aspects. Leather furniture usually has a more detailed warranty.
