St. Thomas welcomes Ithaca College Choir for March 4 concert

BATH - St. Thomas Episcopal Church will host the Ithaca College Choir for a free concert on Sunday, March 4 at 4 p.m.

The choir, under the direction of Prof. Lawrence Doebler, will present a program entitled "Aspects of Love," featuring choral works by Dan Locklair, Chen Yi, James Erb, David Dickau, Eric Whitacre, and a piece commissioned for the choir by Ithaca College professor Dana Wilson.

The central work on the program will be Randall Thompson's a cappella masterpiece "The Peaceable Kingdom." The concert will conclude with a series of spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan.

The Ithaca College Choir is recognized as one of the most innovative ensembles at the collegiate level. The group has toured extensively on the east coast and in the Midwest, and has presented concerts at conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and Music Educators National Conference, and in major New York City venues such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. In addition to their a capella tradition, the choir has performed with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra, C h a m b e r Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, as well as other professional ensembles.

The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the new Bath Area Family Resource Center.
