Zachary T. Wheeler

Army Spec. Zachary T. Wheeler is currently deployed in Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Operation Iraqi Freedom is the official name given to military operations involving members of the U.S. armed forces and coalition forces participating in efforts to free and secure Iraq. Mission objectives focus on force protection, peacekeeping, stabilization, security and counter-insurgency operations as the Iraqi transitional governing bodies assume full sovereign powers to govern the peoples of Iraq.

Members from all branches of the U.S. military and multinational forces are also assisting in rebuilding Iraq's economic and governmental infrastructure, and training and preparing Iraqi military and security forces to assume full authority and responsibility in defending and preserving Iraq's sovereignty and independence as a democracy.

The specialist is an equipment operator normally assigned to the 618th Engineer Support Company, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C.

He is the son of Thomas and Marilane Wheeler of State Route 53 S., Prattsburgh, N.Y.

Wheeler is a 2004 graduate of Prattsburgh Central High School.

Steven D. Clark

Air Force Master Sgt. Steven D. Clark has deployed to Southwest Asia in the Persian Gulf region to support the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom as a member of the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing. The servicemember is normally assigned to the 65th Civil Engineer Squadron, Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal.

Wing members provide support for the U.S. Central Command's Air Forces mission, assisting in the full spectrum of

fueling and aerial refueling operations to U.S. and coalition aircraft engaged in the war on terrorism in the region. Flight crews fly thousands of combat refueling sorties delivering aircraft fuel in the millions of pounds.

Clark is a readiness flight chief with 20 years of military service.

His wife, Sherry, is the daughter of Joe and Mary Rechichi of Wilson Way, Bath.

Anthony S. Rumsey

Army Pvt. Anthony S. Rumsey has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map

reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Rumsey is the son of Raymond Krisher, and Colleen Chrysler of W. Washington St., both of Bath.

Nicholas A. Muller

Air Force Airman Nicholas A. Muller has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Timothy and Cheryl Muller of Haverling St., Bath.

Muller is a 2006 graduate of Bath-Haverling High School, Bath.

Jonathan I. Tuite

Air Force Airman Jonathan I. Tuite has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Donna Tuite of Turnpike Road, Bath.

Tuite received an associate degree in 2006 from Corning Community College.

Joshua A,

Thompson

Army Pvt. Joshua M. Thompson has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

He is the grandson of Roberta Thompson of E. Morris St., Bath, N.Y., and nephew of Andrea Allison of Quaker City Road, Charlestown, N.H.

Thompson is a 2005 graduate of Haverling High School, Bath.
