Udolphia Gillson Fraker

BATH - Udolphia Gillson Fraker, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Ira Davenport Hospital in Bath. She had been a resident of Taylor Health Center for the past year. She was born August 27, 1918, the daughter of Floyd and Myrtle Barnes Davis of Canisteo, she was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1937. She worked at Sears Roebuck in Hornell for many years, later she worked for Steuben Trust Company, the Steuben County Social Services and was known as the Avon Lady in the Barrington- Penn Yan area for over thirty years. She loved her family and people in general, she met many friends through her Avon travels and they were very important to her. She also loved her plants, working in her garden and flowers as well as cooking big meals for family and company. Her family will miss her beautiful smile and personality. Her husband Albert and her loved square dancing and traveled many miles to go dancing. Doll as her family called her was noted for her clogging with her son, Randy, she loved country music.

Udolphia was formerly from Hornell, where she resided with her first husband, Arthur Gillson having been married on June 12, 1938, he died on Jan. 22, 1964. Together they moved to Keuka Lake in the 1940's where they enjoyed their summers. She married her second husband Albert Fraker on April 17, 1982, who died Nov. 8, 2005, during her marriage they lived at Keuka Lake then moved to a farm in Prattsburgh. They finally returned to Keuka Lake where they were very happy. She was also predeceased by her son, Arthur Gillson Jr. who died of Feb. 14, 1989, a brother, Robert Davis, and a sister, Lena Carnes, who died April 2006.

She is survived by her son, Randell (Joan) Gillson of Johnson City, her sister, Joyce (Douglas) Marshall, her daughter in law, Elizabeth Gillson (Robert) Coombs of Littleton, Colorado, grandchildren Arthur (Laura) Gillson III, of Littleton, Colorado, Jeff (Rochelle) Gill of Williamstown, New Jersey, Andrew Gillson of Littleton, Colorado, Tabitha Gillson (Corey) Daklin, of Castle Rock, Colorado, Randell Scott Gillson, Jeremy Gillson, Jennifer Gillson and Michael Gillson all of Johnson City, six great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews, Judith (Douglas) Silsbee, Joan (Stephen) Burdick, Timothy (Karen) Marshall, all of Bath, Dianne (Roger) Carney, Jeffery (Donna) Carnes, Deborah Clothier, all of Canisteo, Robert (Connie) Carnes of Fort Collings, Colorado and Eugene (Nora) Carnes of Friendship and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews in Las Begas, Nevada, and the Florida area.

Friends called at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 1 and Friday, March 2 from 2-4 p.m. with the funeral services following with Reverend Jeffrey McDowell officiating. Burial will be held in the Hornell Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
