Special H'port board meeting

The Village of Hammondsport held a Special Meeting on Wednesday February 7, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Village Office, 41 Lake Street, Hammondsport, NY. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Inter- Municipal Agreement for Water District 2.

Inter-municipal Agreement Water District 2: Mayor Cummings informed the Trustees that Supervisor Gardiner contacted him regarding the expiration of the agreement. Initially the agreement was for 3 years. The new agreement needs to extend 30 years as required by the financing company. Mayor Cummings and DPW Superintendent Hoad have discussed the agreement with Attorney Reed and agree that the Village has a great deal at stake and do not want to rush into an agreement.

The Board agreed that many items in the current agreement were not taking place. Item #11 of the current agreement states "that the Town will consult with the Village Water Operator during the preparation and the construction drawings and process." Superintendent Hoad has not been invited to a meeting or been informed. If the Village of Hammondsport is responsible for maintenance, the Superintendent Hoad feels that the Village Board should have a say in the construction. The Board also agreed that Village residents should not have to pay for the new district. Therefore master meters should be installed at the beginning of District 2 and the Town of Urbana charged for all water used at the current Village water rate.

After much discussion, the Board agreed on an option to be drawn up by Attorney Reed and discussed at the regular Village Board meeting February 13, 2007.
