BATH - Curtis Sliwa, founder of The Guardian Angels, will return to Bath on March 22 to assist community residents trying to form a local Guardian Angels chapter.
Organizers last week announced Sliwa will answer questions from 6 to 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Days Inn. At 7 p.m., he will discuss the formation of and concept behind the Guardian Angels.
Sliwa founded the Guardian Angels in 1979, when he worked as a manager for a MacDonald's restaurant. Since then the organization has grown and now has more than 60 chapters in cities around the world. The organization has received numerous honors since its inception, including the President's Volunteer Action Award in 1983.
Sliwa appeared in Bath in late November 2006 at the invitation of village resident Patricia Gilbert, who is spearheading the local drive to form a Guardian Angels chapter.
About 35 people attended the November meeting, with about 13 individuals indicating an interest in serving as Guardians, according to Gilbert.
The March 22 meeting is open to the public. For more information, contact Gilbert at 331-5827.
