100th Birthday

Elene Owens

Elene Owens will celebrate her 100th birthday with a party in her honor at the Steuben County health Care Facility on Thursday, March 15 at 2 p.m. The former Elene Lyke was born in Howard, to Willet J. and Maggie Roberts Lyke on March 15, 1907, the third of six children.

She married George Owens on December 16, 1931, and together they owned and operated a dairy farm in Avoca and Bath until his death in 1976. There are four children - David (Janice) Owens, Norman (Nancy) Owens, Betty Ann (Donald) Clark and Ronald (Barbara) Owens - and 17 grandchildren.

Elene has always led a very active life, having mowed her own lawn until the age of 90. Cards and visits are appreciated.
