H-port American Legion meetings

The Hammondsport American Legion Auxiliary Unit 0407 will meet at 2 p.m. of the first Sunday every month at The Hammondsport American Legion, Rt. 54.

Village of Bath Housing Authority Board

The Village of Bath Housing Authority Board will meet at 4 p.m. the forth Monday of every month (except where a Holiday occures, then it will be held the week before.)

Dormann Library Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of the Dormann Library will hold their next monthly meeting at 5 p.m. April 9 in the Empire Room of the Library Building at 101 West Morris Street. Bath.

Please call the Library at 776-4613 to confirm that the regular meeting has not been rescheduled.

Free trip for 11th grade student

Steuben Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. is looking for an 11th grade student to sponsor for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Legislative Conference in May 2007. The student will travel to Washington DC for free.

To be eligible the student must reside in a home served by Steuben REC, Inc.

Cancer kickball tournament

The 4th annual Billy Apenowich Memorial Kick Cancer Kickball Tournament will be held Sunday, June 3 at the Bath soccer complex. This is a fun filled all day event. Teams consist of 8-12 players, half adults and half under the age of 14.

"Just Desserts"

Corner Traveling Players will present "Just Desserts," an audience participation mystery at 2 p.m. April 1 at The Old National Hotel, 13 E. Steuben St., Bath. Desserts, tea, coffee and hot chocolate will be served at intermission and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $25 for couples and $15 for singles. Tickets will be on sale at Longwell Lumber Co., or call 664-1207, 776-4313 or 776-5114. This event is to benefit the 'Save-The-Lyon' commission.

Spring story programs

The Dormann Library will begin its Spring story programs started March 19. New this year will be a program for children under three and their parent/ caregiver. This program is held on Mondays from 10:30-11:00 a.m. The dates will be March 19-June 11. Songs, rhymes, and simple stories will be presented.

The preschool story hour is for ages three-five. This program will be on Wednesdays from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The dates will be March 21-June 13. Each week has a special theme with stories, songs, games, and a craft.

Avoca Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2007-2008 school year will be held at the Avoca Central School on the following dates:

+ From Noon to 6 p.m. April 23.

+ From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 24.

To register, parents will need to show a birth certificate proving that their child will be at least five years old by Dec. 1, 2007 and a current immunization record. Immunizations are required for public school attendance before entering.

Phone calls will be accepted for appointments on April 3 and 4 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. only. Call Mrs. Weldy in the Elementary Office at 566- 2221 x-122.

World War I Exhibit

World War I Exhibit is on display until April 8, at The Glenn H. Curtiss Museum of early aviation and local history. World War I uniforms, weapons, and other artifacts pertaining to America's participation in the "Great War" will be on display. Open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Curtiss Museum is located at 8419 State Route 54, Hammondsport. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 and older, and $4 for students 7-18. Victims of Domestic Violence Women's Support Group

Senior trips

A Bath Village/Town senior trip will be held on April 11 to Club 86 for Carries Birthday Bash. Sign ups will be held Monday, March 26 at 1 p.m. in the Board Room of the Village of Bath Municipal Building, 110 Liberty St., Bath.

Easter Egg Hunt

The John Southard Youth Recreation Commission (JSYRC) will hold their 5th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at 12 p.m. April 1 at Pulteney Park. Children from birth to 12 years of age are able to participate, but must be accompanied by an adult. The prizes available are being donated by Bath businesses. NYS Safe Boating course

The Steuben Co. Sheriff's Department, along with the Finger Lakes Boating Museum, will offer the NYS Safe Boating course from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 14 and April 21 at the Glenn Curtiss Museum, St . Rt . 54, Hammondsport. Attendance for both classes is mandatory. There is no charge for people taking the course, however a $5 donation to the Glenn Curtiss Museum, for the use of their facilities, is requested.

The Boating Safety course is intended for all young boat operators between the ages of 10 and 18 who wish to operate a motor boat, and is the mandatory course required for everyone, regardless of age, who wish to operate a personal watercraft, wave-runner and jetski's. Those who successfully complete the course will be issued a NYS Safe Boating certificate.

For those interested in taking the course are asked to call the Steuben Co. Sheriff's Office at 1-800-724- 7777 to pre register for the course. Class size is limited.

Errol Shand Award

Nominations are being sought for individuals who have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service in Chemung and Steuben Counties. The nomination deadline is at 4 p.m. April 6. The Steuben Crystal Shand Award will be presented at the United Way Annual Dinner on May 9.

Mail or deliver all nominations to Donna Keegan at United Way of the Southern Tier, 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Suite 220, Corning, NY 14830 before the application deadline. All nominations mailed must be in the office by the deadline and not postmarked by the deadline date.

Family-Friendly Open House

Family-Friendly Open House will be held from 6-8 p.m. April 19 at 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza (home of SE Steuben Co. Library; next to skating rink.) Children must be accompanied by an adult. Adult events include: free blood pressure check, food stamp eligibility prescreen, free book with new Library card, building tours and refreshments, compliments of Wegmans. Children events include: face painting, crafts, bean bag game, balloons and snacks.

Chicken bar-b-q

A chicken bar-b-q will be held from 12 noon til sold out April 7 at the Wayne Fire House. To order call 292- 3380.

P-burgh Senior Citizens Club

Starting April 19 the Prattsburgh Senior Citizens Club will meet at 6 p.m. the first and thrid Thursday of every month through Nov. 2007 in the Prattsburgh Methodist Church dining room, 4 Porter St. The meeting are open to all Prattsburgh seniors, ages 55 and over. Bring a dish to pass and your own table servie, enjoy the social time, special events, get to know your neighbors, meet new friends and reconnect with old friends. KLP launches Annual Membership Drive

Keuka Lake Players has revamped their membership benefits for the 2007 season. Members joining KLP at the basic level will get the monthly E-newsletter, an invitation to the Annual Dinner, discounts on tickets for the three show season, preferred seating and free admission to in-house theater craft workshops. Dues are $10 for basic individual or $25 for basic family membership which includes all immediate family members.

Keuka Lake Players is a community based voluntary organization, dedicated to preserving, encouraging and teaching live theater in West Central New York by providing opportunities for the public to see learn about and take part in live theater. Students interested in the arts are encouraged with KLP granted scholarships. The organization also contributes to local community projects with talents and funding.

Mother's Day Smorgasbord

St. James Episcopal Church in Hammondsport will hold their annual Mother's Day Smorgasbord Supper from 4-6:30 p.m. May 5. The cost is as follows: $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12 and free for children 3 years of age and younger. Take outs will be available. The menu will include roast beef, ham, chicken, and meatloaf with a variety of casseroles, fruit and assorted salads, vegetables, assorted breads, dessert and beverages. A complimentary glass of wine will be available for those that are 21 years of age and older. The event will be chaired by Nancy French.

Single Adult Fellowship dance

Single Adult Fellowship will hold a dance at 7:30 p.m. April 7 featuring live music by T & The Goodtimes at the First Pesbyterian Methodist Church, Painted Post. The dance is open to all divorced, widowed, separated or never married. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Bath Peace and Justice Group

The Bath Peace and Justice Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. April 4 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 122 Liberty St., Bath. Pot Luck will be held at 6:30 p.m., planning a discussion will be held at 7 p.m. All are welcome. For more information call 569-3564.

Disabled American Veterans

Disabled American Veterans, Kimble Kowalski Chapter 7, will hold it's monthly meeting at 7 p.m. April 2 at the Bath VA Medical Center, 3rd Floor Conference Room. New members welcome. Current members encouraged to attend.

Bath Board of Education

The Board of Education of the Bath Central School District will hold a Regular Meeting at 7 p.m. April 4 in the District Office. Following the Regular Meeting the board of education will hold a building workshop.

Holy Services

The First Presbyterian Church on the Square in downtown Bath announces the following Holy Week Services:

+ At 7 p.m. April 5 - Maundy Thursday Service "Footwashing" - Sanctuary.

+ At 8:30 a.m. April 8 (Easter Sunday) will be Contemporary Worship, live music. Also on April 8 at 11 a.m. is Traditional Worship, Senior Choir and special music.

The location is handicap accessible anad coffee hour will be held at both services.

Rev. Douglas Maddan, Pastor, will lead the services of the local church. Peg Inglis is Director of Music.
