BATH - The Bath Rotary Club last month gave a Webster's Student Dictionary to each third grade student and teacher at the Haverling school district's Vernon E. Wightman Primary School.

Rotary Club President Allan Johnson made the presentation to the children and encouraged them to use their dictionaries throughout their life times. S c hool Superintendent Marion Tunney, a member of the Rotary Club, asked the students to look up words in their new dictionaries and encouraged

them to learn a new word each day. She stressed the importance of having and using an excellent vocabulary as we communicate our thoughts and ideas with others.

The Rotary Club sponsored the dictionaries through The Dictionary Project, a worldwide nonprofit organization. The goal of the program is to assist all students in completing the school year as good writers, active readers and creative thinkers by providing them with their own personal dictionary.
