Forgery

Bath village police last week arrested Valerie E. Drayton, 35, of 23 Shannon St., Bath on charges of second degree forgery and fourth degree grand larceny after an investigation into the theft of a credit card that was used to make numerous purchases in the Village of Bath, the Town of Erwin and the City of Hornell.

Drayton was arraigned in village court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail without bail.

Burglary

A grand jury indicted Lance G. Seaman, 23, of Denwood Terrace Trailer Court, Bath, on two counts of third degree burglary and one count of petit larceny for his alleged involvement in a burglary in the Town of Fremont in December 2005.

Failure to register

Village police Thursday arrested Robert Allan Bates, 22, on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Bates, who previously had been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender, was arraigned in Bath village court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail on $5000 bail or a $10,000 property bond.

Unsafe tires

A Penn Yan man was charged with driving with unsafe tires after colliding with a passing car on county Route 13 in Mitchellsville April 1.

Steuben County Sheriff's deputies say Jason Naylor, 26, was northbound on Route 13 when he slowed and swerved to avoid hitting a cat.

William J. Partridge, 24, of Dundee was following the Naylor vehicle and tried to pass when Naylor slowed. Naylor then swerved to the left and collided with Partridge's vehicle.

The Bath Ambulance Corps helped transport Partridge to Arnot Ogden Hospital for treatment. Charges against him are pending.

Criminal mischief

Christopher J. Hall, 22, of Loucks Pond Road, Avoca, was charged with fourth degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into a Cohocton grocery story in an attempt to steal alcohol.

An audible alarm inside

the store interrupted Hall, who was issued an appearance ticket for a later date in cohocton town court.

Sexual abuse

A Steuben County grand jury indicted Douglas M. Hamblin, 47, of Colonial Circle, Campbell, on charges of first degree sexual abuse and second degree sexual conduct against a child for allegedly having sexual contact with a child less than 11 years old between June 12,
