Elma J. Burleson

BATH - Elma J. Burleson, age 79, of Bath, died April 6, at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. She was born in Elkland, Pennsylvania, Feb. 3, 1928. She graduated in 1946 from King Ferry High School. She married Roland Burleson on May 17, 1950 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. After being a homemaker for several years with her five children, she worked at the Steuben County Veterans Service Agency, retiring after 25 years. Elma was a past member of the Women's Auxilliary Avoca Legion and the Women's Auxilliary of the Avoca Fire Department.

She was predeceased by her parents; Fred Maxwell in Dec. of 1973 and Dorothy Spencer in Dec. of 2003, husband, Roland Burleson in Aug. of 1998, and son-in-law, William Hogan in March of 2007.

She is survived by her son H. Lee (Judi) Burleson of Bath; daughters, Susan (Gordon) Stokes of Riverton, Wyoming, Sandra (Ross) Partridge of Avoca, Sheryl Hogan of Avoca and Lori (Richard) St. Vincent of Granite Falls, Washington; grandchildren, Amber Burleson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Michael (Wendy) Saxton of Kellar, Texas, Ronnie Saxton of Gillette, Wyoming, Keri (Jason) Howard of Denver, Colorado, Dustin Partridge of Mentor, Ohio, Sgt. Nicholas (Diane) Burleson of Yuma, Arizona, Sgt. Casey Yartym of Yuma, Arizona, Robert Hogan of Avoca, James (Holly) Hogan of Schenectady, David Hogan of Avoca and Christopher Hogan of Avoca. Great grandchildren, Za c hary Saxton of Keller, Texas and Jordan and Karston Burleson of Yuma, Arizona. Loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held on Friday, April 13 at 8 p.m. at Fagan's Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Madden officiating. Burial was in the Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.
